Modesto Nuts News Release

Lake Elsinore, CA. - Ryan McMahon drove in both runs for the Modesto Nuts in a 5-2 loss against the Lake Elsinore Storm on Wednesday night at The Diamond.

McMahon cracked a RBI double in the fourth to give the Nuts (64-65; 30-28) an early lead. Later in the inning, the Nuts were unable to tack on and stranded the bases loaded against Storm (47-82; 16-43) starter Brad Wieck (W, 2-6). McMahon also cracked a solo home run in the ninth.

Wieck struck out Troy Stein to leave the bags full which started a run of ten out of the final eleven batters retired to end Wieck's night. The southpaw worked seven innings and struck out five while allowing just four hits.

Zach Jemiola (L, 5-4) was good in his return from the DL. Jemiola worked four innings and allowed just one earned run in the bottom of the fourth. The righty struck out one and walked one.

The big blow for the Storm came in the fifth. Trent Daniel walked the first two batters in the inning before Nick Schulz cracked a three-run homer.

Troy Neiman tossed two perfect innings out of the Nuts' bullpen followed by a perfect frame from Matt Pierpont.

The Nuts go for the Series victory in the finale of the four-game series on Thursday night scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:00 p.m.
