Tonight, the SeaWolves take on the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) in doubleheader action at NYSEG Stadium. Last night, the Mets snapped the SeaWolves six-game winning streak as they took down Erie 10-1 in the series opener. Nine of the Mets 10 runs were scored with two outs in the game. Binghamton also snapped Erie's streak of six straight games with 10 or more hits...Righty Chad Green makes his 25th start of the season and first against Binghamton in game one. Green has taken no-decisions in three straight starts. In Green's last start against New Britain on August 20, he allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts in six innings of work. Green left the game with a lead, but the bullpen could not hold it. Erie eventfully won the game 8-7...RHP Melvin Mercedes takes the mound for Erie in game two making his first start of the season. Mercedes has made 13 relief appearances for the SeaWolves this season. In his last appearance on August 20 against New Britain, Mercedes allowed a run on four hits with no walks and a strikeout in 1.2 innings of work. He has made one appearance against the Mets on July 2, tossing two scoreless frames with two strikeouts...RHP Kevin McGowan takes the mound for the Mets in game one making his Double-A debut. McGowan began the season with Class-A St. Lucie where he made 23 appearances, 22 starts, posting a 6-10 record and 4.36 ERA. He took a no-decision in his last start against Bradenton in his last start on August 19. In the game, he allowed three runs on eight hits with no walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work.
