FC Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - FC Montreal will face the Charlotte Independence Wednesday, at 6:30pm, at Stade Saputo. Admission to the game is free and will also be streamed live at 59cac9fc30d770237e6554aeb www.impactmontreal.com/fcmontreal.

"It will be a good game," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "We invite the fans to come and see the progress that was made by our young team over the last six months."

FC Montreal is back from its 0-0 draw in Wilmington last Saturday and even if it wasn't the team's best performance of the season, the Bleu-blanc-noir managed to get a third clean sheet in its last four away games.

"Our defence is more organized then before," said defender Jonathan Grant. "We work in a collective way, especially when we take possession of the ball to move forward."

Since the midway point of the season, Charlotte is the only team to have beaten FC Montreal in nine games (6-1-2). The first game against the Independence ended in a 2-0 loss in Charlotte. Goalkeeper David Paulmin had a stunning performance with 11 saves, but Daniel Jackson and Alex Martinez still found the back of the net.

"We want to avenge our performance in Charlotte in terms of quality," added Eullaffroy. "We had a bad game over there. For them, it was the start of a good series. They are one of the best teams in the USL right now. We expect a really interesting game to watch."

Charlotte is fighting for a playoff spot, finding itself in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points in 21 games. Charlotte is also the only team in the East to have never won away.

"We are having an excellent second half to the season and we want to build on this," said Grant. "I'm excited to play against Charlotte."

FC Montreal's next game will be played on Saturday, August 29, at 7pm, against the City Islanders in Harrisburg, at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
