Greeneville Astros News Release
GREENEVILLE, TN - Greeneville Astros' infielder Connor Goedert has been selected to the 2015 Appalachian League All-Star Team, the league announced today. The team features players from seven of the ten teams in the league with the Elizabethton Twins, Johnson City Cardinals, and Pulaski Yankees leading the way with three selections each.
Goedert's selection marks the first time the Astros have had an all-star since shortstop Jean Batista and utility infielder Brian Blasik were both chosen during the 2012 season. The 21-year-old, who was selected as a third baseman, becomes the twelfth Astros' player to ever be named to an Appalachian League All-Star Team.
Goedert, who also collected an Appalachian League Player of the Week (June 29-July 5) award earlier in the season, led the Astros in games played (54), at-bats (211), hits (61), doubles (19), RBI (37), and total bases (94) heading into Monday night. Those numbers placed the 2014 15th round draft pick within the top ten among league leaders in each category.
