Cape Breton Eagles News Release
Sydney - The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced their final roster for the 2015-16 season today. The team will carry a total of 23 players including 14 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goaltenders.
The roster is comprised of 16 veterans and seven new players. Among the 16 returning veterans is forward Jordan Ty Fournier who was acquired in an off-season trade from the Victoriaville Tigres in exchange for defensemen Bradley Lalonde. The seven new players include three draft picks, three free agents and one player acquired through trade. The Screaming Eagles three draft picks that made the roster are defensemen Maxim Baillargeon, an eighth round pick in 2013, and pair of 2015 draft picks including the sixth overall pick forward Peyton Hoyt and goaltender Kyle Jessiman, the twenty second overall pick. Forwards Anthony Sorrentino, Yannik Bertrand and Cole Reginato are three free agents who cracked the roster. Forward Declan Smith was acquired last season from the Saint John Sea Dogs.
The roster is made up of two 20-year-old players, eight 19-year-olds, seven 18-year-olds, four 17-year-olds and two 16-year-olds. The two 20-year-old spots are occupied by returning players, defensemen Alexandre Gosselin and goaltender Alexandre Bélanger. Five members of the Screaming Eagles will be attending NHL training camps in September including Clark Bishop (Carolina), Olivier Leblanc (Columbus), Maxim Lazarev (Chicago), Loik Léveillé (Edmonton) and 2015 NHL first round draft pick Evgeny Svechnikov (Detroit).
The Screaming Eagles will play their final home game of the pre-season this Saturday, August 29th at Centre 200 against the Halifax Mooseheads. Tickets are $10 on sale now at the Centre 200 box office. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Cape Breton West Islanders.
