Birmingham Barons News Release
Infielder Ryan Leonards earned a call-up to Double-A Birmingham Sunday morning after Barons' outfielder Keenyn Walker was placed on the disabled list. Walker missed yesterday's game after fouling a pitch off his foot/ankle in Saturday's 7-2 win over Mississippi at Trustmark Park.
Leonards joins the Barons Sunday and makes his Double-A roster debut in just his second professional season. The infielder began the season at Kannapolis batting .272 at the time of his promotion. Leonards is a career .266 hitter, batting as high as .333 with Rookie Great Falls in 2014. The 24-year-old was a 21st round selection by the White Sox in 2014 out of Louisiana - Lafayette.
