Hillsboro, Oregon - The Hawks pitching staff once again shutdown the Hillsboro Hops hitters as the Hawks took game two of the three game series in Hillsboro by a score of 7-1.
The Hawks jumped on Hops starting pitcher, Tyler Mark for four runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run ground rule double from Nate Causey and a two-run triple from Marcos Derkes.
The Hawks added one more run in the fifth inning when Jensen Park scored on a wild pitch before tacking on two more runs in the eighth inning on another wild pitch followed by another Causey RBI ground rule double.
The Emeralds got their first run of the evening in the bottom of the eighth inning when Stephen Dezzi scored on an RBI double by Dansby Swanson, pushing the score to 7-1.
Salvador Justo entered in the ninth inning and shut down the Hops, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
Ryan McCormick picked up the win, pitching five innings of relief and allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts.
The Hawks (22-39) have now taken the three game series against the Hops (35-26) and look to complete their first sweep of the season tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:03 p.m.
