Swapped Shots Power Twin-Bill Split

Indianapolis Indians News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Willy Garcia's 14th Minor League home run of the season sent the Tribe to a 5-1 win in the first game of a doubleheader, and a three-run shot from Dayan Viciedo boosted Charlotte, 7-2, in tonight's second contest as the Indians and Knights split a twin-bill Friday at BB&T Ballpark.

Garcia homered for the ninth time in 33 games since the All-Star break. He cleared the fences to break a 1-1 tie in the sixth and help right-hander Vance Worley to his second win in as many starts.

Worley also benefited from homers by rehabbing Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer and top prospect Josh Bell, but needed only two of the RBIs after tossing a seven-inning complete game with a lone unearned run and nine strikeouts.

Viciedo then capped Charlotte's early, five-run outburst in the second game of the twin-bill.

With two outs and a pair of runs already in, he took AJ Morris deep to left-center field to widen the lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the second.

Daniel Webb, on a rehab assignment for the Chicago White Sox, improved to 2-1 for the Knights, while Morris suffered his third loss of the year.
