Roughnecks in Portland on Saturday; Watch Party at Rusty Crane

Tulsa Roughnecks FC will make its third trip to the Pacific Northwest this season on Saturday when they travel to face Portland Timbers 2 at Merlo Field. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 4:00pm CDT.

Mason Grimes and Tulsa Roughnecks FC will travel to Portland Saturday to face Timbers 2 in an important USL Western Conference matchup.

The game will be important for both team's playoff hopes. The Roughnecks will enter the match in a fifth-place tie with Orange County in the Western Conference table. Sacramento occupies seventh spot, only, two points behind, while Portland are in eighth place with 29 points and a 9-12-2 record.

Tulsa has 36 points in 25 matches with a 10-9-6 record.

The Roughnecks are unbeaten in their last five matches, their longest unbeaten streak of the season. Tulsa has lost only one time since June 27, going 6-1-3 in its past 10 matches.

Timbers 2 will enter the game with wins in two of their past three matches.

It will be the second meeting between the two sides this season. Timbers 2 claimed a 3-1 win at ONEOK Field back on May 30.

The match will be broadcast live on Tulsa's Sports Radio AM 1300 with Jeremie Poplin calling the action. The broadcast can be heard online at 1300TheBuzz.com. It will also be shown live on the Portland Timbers 2 YouTube channel.

WATCH PARTY

The official watch party for the Portland match will be at the Rusty Crane, located across the street from ONEOK Field on the corner of Archer and Detroit Avenues. Rusty Crane will be offering a pair of specials for the watch party. Roughneck Kicker drinks will be only $5 each for adults, and loaded cheese fries will also be only $5 per serving. Fans can also order from the full menu.

WELCOME BACK DAV - Defender Iarfhlaith Davoren is expected to be back in the Tulsa side after serving a mandatory one-match suspension versus Louisville for receiving a red card in the prior match. Davoren will enter the match with four yellow cards on his record, meaning he will be looking at another one-game suspension if he receives another yellow card during the regular season

GRIMES TO DEPART - The game in Portland will represent the final regular season match for defender Mason Grimes. He will depart Portland to join the Guam National Team for a pair of World Cup qualifying matches. Guam will play Iran in Tehran on September 3 before hosting Oman on September 6. The Guam side is 2-0 in 2nd round qualifying matches, and Grimes has started both games.

MATA HONORED - Cristian Mata, a product of Tulsa Soccer Club, Tulsa Union High School and the University of Tulsa, scored three goals in the two matches last week. His performance earned him a spot on the USL Team of the Week. Mata is now second on the Roughnecks with six goals on the season, trailing only Sammy Ochoa who has eight.

ROAD SUCCESS - The Roughnecks are 5-3-4 in road matches this season. The five victories are tied for second-most in USL this season, trailing only Los Angeles Galaxy II who has seven wins away from home.

STATS WATCH - The Roughnecks' 46 goals tie them with Pittsburgh for the most in USL this season.

Tulsa also leads all teams with 343 shots taken. Louisville is second with 311.

Midfielder Chad Bond added three more assists last week, giving him eight on the season which ties him for third most in the league.

Goalkeeper Jake Feener has a 1.30 goals against average in 10 appearances this season. That is the tenth lowest mark among USL keepers.
