THE LEADOFF: West Virginia rallied to beat Lexington 7-6 on Tuesday. The Legends scored four in the third, keyed by a Samir Duenez home run and a two-run double from Chad Johnson. Taylor Gushue halved the deficit with a two-run single in the top of the fourth, but Brandon Downes solo home run off Colten Brewer gave the Legends a 5-2 lead after four complete. West Virginia scored four in the top of the fifth to take the lead. Pablo Reyes hit a three-run homer for a 6-5 lead. After the Legends plated a run in the seventh and pinned a blown save on Jose Regalado, the Power recaptured the advantage on a Reyes sac fly in the top of the ninth. Jared Lakind worked an inning and two-thirds scoreless for the win and Nick Neumann recorded the final out for the save.

ADIOS: The Power and Legends have six more games against each other over the final 19 games this season. West Virginia has clinched the season series with 11 wins to three losses. The Power lead the all-time series 109-98 and have gone 61-47 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark since 2005.

HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING: West Virginia's offense has had at least nine hits in 16 of the 17 games played this month and have the league's best batting average this month at .313.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER: With the Power's Tuesday win, the Greensboro Grasshoppers became the first South Atlantic League club to be eliminated from second half contention. Entering play on Wednesday, West Virginia's magic number is 13.

REYES ROLLS: Pablo Reyes missed a week with a leg injury, but returned with a flourish on Tuesday. West Virginia's second baseman went 2-3 with a sac bunt, a three-run home run and a sac fly, driving in four of the Power's seven runs. The home run was his 11th this season, but his first of a three-run variety. Reyes has eight solo home runs and two two-run shots.

MAN OF STEAL: Tito Polo has 42 stolen bases this season, tied with Brent Brewer (2007) for the second most in any of Power baseball season. Darren Ford stole 69 bases during the 2006 campaign.

FOUR! With four hits on Tuesday, Jerrick Suiter raised his average from .294 to .303, sixth best in the league entering play today. The last player to hit over .300 for West Virginia with enough at bats to win a batting title was Walker Gourley (.304) in 2013.

ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The West Virginia Power will unveil their 2016 schedule on August 25. Schedule magnets with the match-ups and dates will be given away on August 31.

POWER POINTS: The Power have committed 103 errors this season and are tied with Hickory for the fewest in the league this season. The league record for the fewest errors is 107, set by Augusta in the 2013 season over 137 games... The Power are 31-28 on the road this season with 10 left away from home... Austin Coley takes the mound today looking to extend his franchise-record best win total to 14.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat Arizona 9-8 in 15 innings. The Pirates blew a five-run lead, Pedro Florimon gave the Buccos the win with a run-scoring triple to plate Francisco Cervelli in the 15th... Norfolk edged Indianapolis 4-3 with a run in the top of the ninth... Altoona allowed two in the top of the eighth in a 2-1 loss at home to Portland... Bradenton score four in the third to beat St. Lucie 5-2... The Black Bears were off for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Logan Hill, Ty Moore, Daniel Arribas, and Dario Agrazal were selected to represent the team.
