August 17, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the club has re-signed its captain, Bretton Cameron, for the 2015-16 season.
"Bretton's leadership is a valuable piece to this team and his hardworking attitude will continue to make him and his teammates better," Head Coach Brian Gratz said. "He's a solid two-way forward and our fans already know how determined he is."
Cameron, 26, returns for his fifth season in the Upstate following his acquisition during the 2011-12 campaign. He was named the Road Warriors' third captain in franchise history on October 15, 2014 and posted 17 points (8g, 9a) in 52 appearances last season. Overall, Cameron has earned 84 points (33g, 51a) in 186 regular-season games with the Road Warriors, and is a veteran of more than 270 ECHL contests.
"Greenville is my second home and I couldn't see myself playing anywhere else," Cameron said. "Over the last four years, I've been fortunate to live and play in such a great community, and I've enjoyed getting to know the dedicated Road Warriors' fans along the way. It was an easy decision to return."
A native of Didsbury, Alberta, Cameron debuted with Stockton during the 2010-11 campaign and recorded a career-best 31 points (16g, 15a) in 53 games. He was traded to Greenville from Stockton on January 24, 2012. In addition to his ECHL career, the sixth-year pro has dressed 23 games in the AHL with Hartford and Texas, where he registered six points (1g, 5a).
Prior to turning pro, the 5'11, 185-pound forward played parts of five seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2005-2010. He collected 120 points (62g, 58a) in 179 career games.
