Altoona Curve News Release

RICHMOND, Va. - The Altoona Curve held off a late rally and defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at The Diamond. Jacob Stallings drove in two runs for the Curve as they took the rubber game of the three-game set.

The Curve (64-57) overcame an early deficit to close out the series with a win over the Flying Squirrels (60-60).

The Curve scored three runs in the sixth inning, aided by three Richmond errors, to take a 3-2 lead. On a sacrifice by attempt by Mel Rojas Jr., a throw to third base by Richmond pitcher Kelvin Marte (Loss, 9-5) sailed into left field, allowing Jose Osuna to score.

Stallings followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Curve a 3-2 lead. A throwing error by Richmond catcher Jackson Williams brought Rojas across the plate later in the inning, pushing the Altoona advantage to 4-2.

After falling behind 2-0 in the second, the Curve answered in the third with an RBI single by Stallings.

Curve starter Jason Creasy (Win, 9-7) picked up his first win since June 21, allowing just two runs over seven innings. Jhondaniel Medina (Save, 6) stranded the potential tying run on base in the ninth.

The Curve return to Peoples Natural Gas Field on Tuesday night to begin a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs. Right-hander Chad Kuhl (9-4, 2.76) will pitch for the Curve.
