Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX (August 14, 2015) - With the Brazos Valley Bombers recently wrapping up their third consecutive TCL Championship, their dominance of the TCL in 2015 was reflected in the league's 2015 season awards.

First baseman and TCL All-Star Geonte Jackson was named TCL Player of the Year for the 2015 season. Geonte is the first Bomber in franchise history to win the award, and his league-leading .379 batting average is the highest for any TCL batting champion in the last six seasons. He also finished top-five in the league in runs, hits, RBI, homers, and his .471 on-base percentage was the highest in the league. After June 4, the junior from the University of Texas at San Antonio never went two-straight nights without reaching base safely.

For the fourth consecutive season, Head Coach Curt Dixon took home Coach of the Year honors, the most by any coach in TCL history. The Bombers swept both the first and second-half titles with a 42-9 regular season record and an .821 winning percentage, a new TCL record. In addition to the three-straight TCL championships, Dixon and the Bombers have won the last nine half-season titles and have finished with the top record in the regular season four-straight years.

In addition to the Player and Coach of the Year honors, the Bombers also had seven players named to the All-TCL first team, and three more named to the second team. Joining Jackson on the All-TCL First Team was catcher Tyler Lawrence; second baseman Jimmy Norris; the TCL RBI champion, Matt Hilston; left-handed pitcher Mike Walker; reliever and shareholder of the TCL single-season wins record, C.J. Gregory; and Blake Kopetsky. The seven first team selections was a league-high for the 2015 season.

Earning selections to the second team squad were shortstop/third baseman Trent Goodrich; outfielder Ben Hollas; and the first pitcher in TCL history to throw a no-hitter in the postseason, Ethan Landon.
