Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced new details for their radio broadcasts, which will take effect during the 2015-16 season, as they continue their partnership with iHeartMedia.

The first change is the flagship station is returning to Mix 97.3 (WKWK). Mix previously served as the Home of Wheeling Nailers Hockey through the 2011-12 season, before games were moved to Eagle 107.5 (WEGW) from 2012-15. All preseason, regular season, and playoff games will air on Mix 97.3, starting with the pregame show 20 minutes before face-off, and finishing with the postgame show after the conclusion of that night's contest. As was the case during previous seasons, fans will be able to catch all of the action online, by visiting mix973wheeling.com, as well as on their mobile devices, by downloading the iHeartRadio application.

"iHeartMedia is proud to continue our affiliation with the Nailers, by putting the games on WKWK FM, which will continue to expand the reach of the games from Wheeling to Pittsburgh, and everywhere in between," said iHeartMedia's Mark Carter. "We look forward to many more years of this relationship."

The second set of changes involves the Wheeling Nailers Power Hour. The new host restaurant for the Wheeling Nailers Power Hour is The 19th Hole, located at 780 National Road in Wheeling. With the new location comes a new day, as the show will now take place on Tuesday nights from 6-7. Finally, the radio home for the Wheeling Nailers Power Hour is also new, as the show will air on Fox Sports 1400 (WBBD). The format of the show will be similar, although there will be increased fan interaction, including opportunities for fans attending the show to win prizes.

"Myself and everyone at The 19th Hole are super excited to partner up with the Nailers, and become the new host location for the Wheeling Nailers Power Hour," said The 19th Hole Owner Angie Szalay. "We have a great relationship with the Nailers players, and we look forward to welcoming their fans as well."

DJ Abisalih will be returning for his fifth season as the Voice of the Nailers, and will continue to broadcast all of the games, in addition to hosting the Wheeling Nailers Power Hour.

"We are thrilled about all of the changes we are making to the radio broadcasts this season, as we believe that we will gain more new listeners, which will translate to more fans attending our games," said Nailers Radio Broadcaster DJ Abisalih. "The move from Eagle to Mix on radio gives us three times more wattage, leading to a significantly larger coverage area. We believe that the move to The 19th Hole is one that players and fans will thoroughly enjoy, as there will be more opportunity for interaction, while the show is aired live inside the restaurant."

The first regular season broadcast on Mix 97.3 will take place on October 16th, when the Nailers begin the 2015-16 campaign on the road against the Norfolk Admirals. Wheeling will play its home opener on October 24th at 7:35 against the Brampton Beast. The Wheeling Nailers Power Hour will debut at The 19th Hole on October 20th at 6:00.
