Lanphere's Bullpen Performance Not Enough
August 13, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - Reliever Luke Lanphere baffled the potent Salem-Keizer offense with five innings of four hit baseball, all while striking out three batters, but it wasn't enough as the Volcanoes topped the Spokane Indians 6-1 in front of 4,122 fans at Avista Stadium on Wednesday night. It was Create-Your-Own-Cheer-Sign Night, presented by Rockwood Health System and K-102 Country.
Spokane's offense was stymied, going just 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. They left 10 runners on base during the contest. Leon Byrd Jr., drove in Spokane's lone run in the fifth inning on a single to right field to score Yeyson Yrizarri, extending his hitting streak to four games. Byrd has driven in six runs in the past five games.
Spokane starter Cole Wiper had the roughest outing of his 2015 season. In four innings, the Bellevue, Wash., native allowed a season-high eight hits and six runs. Volcanoes shortstop C.J. Hinojosa hit a two-run home run off Wiper in the fourth inning.
The Indians return home tomorrow night, Thursday, August 13th, for Grand Slam F-150 Sweepstakes presented by Gus Johnson Ford and KIX 96.1. If a Spokane Indians player hits a grand slam during the game, one lucky fan will drive away with a new Ford F-150 Super Duty Truck. Sign-up for your chance to win at the game on the Spokane Indians MiLB In the Park Phone App! In addition, stick around after the game and Circle the Bases courtesy of Supercuts!
