Rogues Drop Game One, Knights Playoff Bound

CORVALLIS, OR - The Medford Rogues traveled to Corvallis to face the Knights with playoff implications on the line for the Knights. The Knights started scoring early in the first inning and kept it rolling until the sixth. Rogues scored two in the ninth inning with the bases loaded but it was not enough and Medford fell to Corvallis in game one, 7-4. With the win, the Knights clinch the wildcard spot in WCL playoffs. The Knights plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning off of three hits. Corvallis kept scoring through the middle innings, leading the Rogues 7-2 heading in to the ninth inning. The Rogues loaded the bases and plated two runs off an RBI single by Nathan Etheridge. Medford was unable to complete a comeback and fell to Corvallis 7-4. Nathan Etheridge was strong at the plate going 2-for-5 with two RBIs improving his batting average to .275. J.J. Kitaoka went 2-for-4 with a triple and a single now with a season batting average sitting at a healthy .294. Jackson Bertsch got the start for the Rogues and went 3.1 innings giving up six earned runs off of 10 hits, striking out one and walking two. His ERA now is at 6.29. Kade Wagner pitched the rest of the game for Medford and gave up one run on four hits. Wagner's ERA now is 3.05 on the season. The Rogues and Knights face off tomorrow for the final two games of the Rogues' season. The first game of the doubleheader starts at 5:05pm with the second game following the conclusion of game one.
