Wisconsin Rapids, WI- Wisconsin Rapids (32-35) set a franchise record for wins in a season as they defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs (41-29), 6-4. Green Bay only has one win against the Rafters this season.

The Bullfrogs' chances for a home game in the playoffs on Monday, August 10 th are still alive as the Mallards dropped both of their Saturday games to the La Crosse Loggers.

If the Mallards lose tomorrow and the Bullfrogs end the regular season with a win, Green Bay will secure a home contest.

In this evening's game, Clayton Uselman (LHP/Madison College) took the ball as the starting pitcher, his second start this season. He faced off against Dmitry Shtykher (RHP/Russia) who continued to have success against Green Bay.

Runs were scored first in this one when Ray Greco (UW-Stevens Point) socked a home run in the third inning past the left-field wall, his first this summer. Greco started at shortstop, and moved up to the seven slot in the order, also finishing with two hits.

Wisconsin Rapids immediately responded with three of their own in the home half of the third. After back-to-back singles by Michael McCann (Seattle) and Scotty Wright (North Florida), Danny Rosenbaum's throwing error on a groundball scored a run.

A second run passed through on a Uselman wild pitch, the final run of the third inning was plated on a Sam Tolleson (UCF) sacrifice fly.

Craig Noto's team added two more in the fifth inning. Another Sam Tolleson RBI scored Ernie Clement (Virginia) and Mitch McGeein's field choice groundout got the second run through to make it 5-1 Rafters.

Shtykher logged 5IP/4H/1ER/3K-1BB and in two appearances against the Bullfrogs totaled 8IP with just one run allowed. His strong outing was matched by three scoreless innings from Ethan Evanko (LHP/Grand Canyon).

Down 6-1, the Bullfrogs had no runners on and two outs in the ninth against 6'6" right-hander Luke Sommerfeld (Saint Louis) when Axel Posemans (Globe Institute of Technology) walked to start a rally.

Logan Taylor (Louisville) then hit a fly ball to right field that was dropped by Tolleson and Poesmans scored. With Taylor aboard, Robb Paller (Columbia) doubled on a ball that banged off the wall for an RBI. And then Paller scored on a sharp single from Brian Celsi (California).

Sommerfeld was removed for Justin Kelly (LHP/UC Santa Barbara). Kelly walked Danny Rosenbaum (Louisville) as the go-ahead run came up to the plate. But the Rafters ended the Bullfrogs late surge as Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) grounded back to the mound to give the Rafters a 6-4 win.

Uselman (0-1) picked up the loss, Shtykher (1-0) the win, and Kelly (1SV) the save.

At 5:05PM, the Bullfrogs play Wisconsin Rapids tomorrow from Witter Field. The pre-game show will start at 4:55PM on WOCO 107.1FM.
