Thunder to Host Tulsa for Pre-Season Tilt

Wichita, KS (August 7th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced on Friday that they will host the Tulsa Oilers in an exhibition game on Saturday, October 10th at 4 p.m. at the Wichita Ice Center. Immediately following the conclusion, the Wichita Junior Thunder will host the Colorado Junior Eagles.
The two longtime rivals have played against each other in an exhibition game two of the last three seasons and will serve as the only pre-season contest for Wichita. Tickets will be available at a later date for $12 and will allow fans to see both games. Season ticket holders will get the first crack at purchasing tickets for the contest.
"This game gives me a chance to see some of the newer guys in a competitive situation for the first time," commented Head Coach Kevin McClelland. "I look forward to getting going and this builds to the excitement of the season."
The Thunder will enter their 24th season in the Air Capital and second year as a member of the ECHL. Wichita opens its season on Friday, October 16th at Tulsa and will play its home opener on Saturday, October 17th against the Quad City Mallards. The two teams will meet 13 times this season and battle once again for the StoneWolf Casino Cup.
