Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Glenn Detulleo announced today that goaltender Kevin Genoe will return to the team for his third season and forward Cory Giroux has also been signed to a tryout agreement.

Genoe (5-11, 165) has played in 64 games for the Havoc over the past two seasons and posted a 24-31-6 overall record. He has a career 2.60 goals against average and a 91.4 save percentage. He was named to the All-SPHL Rookie Team in 2013-14.

"I am thrilled to bring back Kevin," Detulleo said. "He has been one of the most consistent players on the team the past two seasons, and we fully expect that to continue."

Giroux (5-11, 175) spent the past five years playing at Portage College. The Port Hope, Ontario native saw action in 143 games and scored 76 goals and recorded 79 assists. He also played in 146 career junior games and scored 90 goals and recorded 145 assists.

"It's definitely an honor to be picked up by a team like the Havoc," Giroux said. "I've only heard great things about the organization and the fans in Huntsville. I really appreciate the coaches for taking a chance on me and I'm really looking forward to making this jump in my career. I'd like to come down and use my offensive abilities to score some goals while helping produce scoring chances and build momentum with good puck control. I've been watching the additions that the Havoc has been making and it looks like there will be some great players so I'm hoping to fit right in and earn a roster spot to help the Havoc have a very successful season."

"Cory is a guy that put up excellent numbers throughout his collegiate career," Detulleo said. "His offensive game is at an elite level, and we are excited to add his skill and grit to our lineup."

The Havoc open the season on the road on October 23rd at Columbus. The home opener on Pharmacy First Ice will be November 10th against Knoxville.
