Rogues Take Series from Gems

MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues and Klamath Falls Gems met at Harry and David Field for game two of the series. The Rogues put up eight runs in the second inning, jumping out to an early 8-0 lead that the Gems were unable to match. Medford scored another six runs in the eighth, and the Gems fell to the Rogues, 17-2.

The Rogues put up eight runs on six hits during the second inning, with all but one Rogue batter crossing the plate. Klamath Falls starter Spencer Johnson faced 13 Rogues batters in the inning as the Rogues jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. The Rogues plated six more runs in the eighth inning securing the Rogues win until the 9th inning, and the Rogues took game two, 17-2.

Billy Fredrick went 5-for-5 at the plate, tying a franchise record for most hits in the game. Fredrick had five singles with three runs and three RBIs, improving his batting average to .342. Tony Roque was also strong at the plate with two singles, one double and three RBIs. Roque's batting average now sits at .270.

Kade Wagner got the start for the Rogues, his third of the summer. Wagner went seven innings, giving up seven hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out three, improving his ERA to 3.16. Dustin Hughes and Kohl Hostert also made appearances on the mound for the Rogues.

The Rogues and Gems face off in game three tomorrow night at 6:35pm for the home series finale at Harry and David Field. It is Thirsty Thursday and Fan Appreciation Night with a sunglasses giveaway sponsored by U.S. Cellular. Tickets can be purchased at www.medfordrogues.com.
