Shuckers Shutout Mobile 3-0

MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears (23-14, 57-49) were shutout for just he third time this season as the Biloxi Shuckers (18-19, 61-44) topped Mobile 3-0 on Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The loss snapped a three game win streak for the BayBears who could record only three hits in the contest. With Tuesday's loss, Mobile's lead in the Southern League South Division standing shrinks to just 1.5 games over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Biloxi scored the first run of the game early in the top of the first inning. Brett Phillips reached base with a lead-off triple and scored in the next at bat with a RBI double from Orlando Arcia to make it a 1-0 Shuckers lead. Biloxi added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning with a two-run double off the bat of Nathan Orf.

Mobile was shut down by Biloxi pitching. LHP Josh Hader (1-0) made his debut for the Shuckers on Tuesday and limited Mobile to just one hit, walking one and striking out nine batters over five scoreless innings. RHP Brooks Hall took over for Hader in the sixth inning and tossed three scoreless innings, not allowing a single hit.

The loss went to BayBears RHP Yoan Lopez (1-5) who allowed all three runs on six hits, walking one and striking out three in six innings of work.

The BayBears continue their 10-game homestand, with game four of five against the Biloxi Shuckers set for Wednesday at 7:05 PM. Wednesday is "We Support Our Troops Wednesday" at "The Hank." Active or retired members of the armed services receive up to four free general admission ticket with a Military I.D.
