Wolves Shine at U17 Development Camp

Four Sudbury Wolves prospects participated in Hockey Canada's 'Summer Showcase' U17 Development Camp this past week. The camp opened on July 29th in Calgary and wrapped up August 4th. 110 players took part in the seven-day camp, where they participated in practices and a nine-game mini-tournament on one of six teams: Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Red and White.
Goaltender Jacob McGrath and forward Owen Lane suited for Team Black, while defenceman Conor Ali and forward David Levin suited up for Team Blue.
These two teams faced-off for third place in the tournament, where David Levin helped Team Blue take a close 5-4 victory over Team Black with an assist on the game-winning goal.

Sunday August 2 - TEAM BLACK 4 vs. TEAM GOLD 0
OHL prospects accounted for three of Team Black's four goals as Brady Gilmour (Saginaw Spirit), Owen Lane (Sudbury Wolves) and Liam Hawel (Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds) all hit the scoresheet in a 4-0 victory. Lane also recorded an assist. Goaltender Jacob McGrath (Sudbury Wolves) took care of business in his half of the shutout win, making 14 saves.
Monday August 3 - TEAM GREEN 3 vs. TEAM BLACK 2 OT
Goaltenders Michael DiPietro (Windsor Spitfires) and Jacob McGrath (Sudbury Wolves) were both solid in net. McGrath made 14 saves, staying perfect in the crease for the second straight game.
Monday August 3 - TEAM BLUE 6 vs. TEAM RED 4
Ben Jones (Niagara IceDogs) and David Levin (Sudbury Wolves) led the way with a pair of goals each for Team Blue in a 6-4 victory on Monday.
Ryan Jankowski, director of player personnel for Hockey Canada, was responsible for all player selection, with assistance from regional scouts Carl Bouchard (Quebec), Barclay Branch (Ontario), Wade Klippenstein (West), Kevin Mitchell (Atlantic) and Darrell Woodley (Ontario) for the under-17 roster.
