(Charleston, W.V. - August 4, 2015) - The West Virginia Power lost the middle game of the series to the Greenville Drive 3-2 on Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. Stephen Tarpley picked up a quality start but it wasn't enough as the Power will try to take the series in the rubber game on Wednesday.
West Virginia got out to an early lead with runs in the first and second innings. Michael Suchy drove in a run with a ground out in the first inning and Taylor Gushue hit an RBI single in the second to give the Power a 2-0 lead.
Greenville responded with a pair of runs in the fifth inning and took their first lead of the series in the sixth. Yoan Moncada hit an RBI single to center and scored when Michael Chavis hit a double to right. In the seventh inning, David Sopilka hit his first home run of the season to left.
Tarpley went six innings and allowed two runs on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts but received a no-decision. His counterpart, Ben Taylor, also received a no-decision. John Sever (3-3) suffered the loss while Kuehl McEachern (6-2) earned the victory with four shutout innings in relief.
West Virginia (26-12, 63-44) wraps up the series with Greenville (18-20, 56-52) on Wednesday night. RHP Yeudy Garcia (10-5, 2.00) leads the SAL in ERA and will start for West Virginia against Greenville LHP Dedgar Jimenez (6-7, 3.93). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. while pregame on Charleston's ESPN Radio 104.5 FM and 1490, the Power website, and the TuneIn Radio App is slated for 6:45 p.m.
Gates open for Wednesday's game at 6 p.m. for the final Pets in the Park of 2015. Fans can bring their ballpark-friendly pet to Appalachian Power Park to take in the last game of the series against the Drive.
