Peterborough Petes News Release
(Calgary, AB)- Hockey Canada announced today that Petes goaltender Dylan Wells has been named to Canada's National Men's Under-18 team that will compete at the upcoming 2015 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka U18 tournament in Slovakia and the Czech Republic from August 10 to 15, 2015.
Goalie Dylan Wells (PBO, 21st overall, 2014) put in a strong showing at the U18 Selection Camp, seeing 92:02 of ice time and stopping 31 of 33 shots for a .939 save percentage and a goals against average of 1.30. The 6'2", 187lbs St. Catharines native will suit up in his second season with the Petes this fall, after a good rookie campaign in 2014/15.
In total, seven members of the Peterborough Petes organization participated in Hockey Canada's Summer Showcase in Calgary. Along with Wells, centre Jonathan Ang suited up in three games at the U18 selection camp. Petes assistant coach Andrew Verner is serving as Goaltending Consultant for Hockey Canada and will travel to Slovakia and the Czech Republic for the Ivan Hlinka tournament.
Four players selected by the Petes in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection were competing for spots at Canada's National Under-17 Development Camp this weekend. Centre Zach Gallant (1st round, 9th overall) was among the tournament's leading scorers with two goals and an assist in three games for Team Red. Defenceman Nick Grima (2nd round, 25th overall), who also suited up for Team Red, was solid defensively throughout the tournament.
C.J. Clarke (2nd round, 29th overall) had an assist for Team Green in the championship game before falling in overtime, but the winger was still impressive with two helpers in the tournament. Defenceman Cole Fraser (3rd round, 50th overall) was a force throughout the development camp with Team Black, continuing to showcase his physical, gritty play heading into the 2015/16 season.
Team Canada's U17 World Hockey Championship rosters will be announced this fall. For fans looking to catch all of the excitement of the Petes' historic 60th season, season tickets and flex packages are still available.
