Benson Named to Team Canada for Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate forward Tyler Benson on being named to Team Canada ahead of the 2015 U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup which will take place from August 10 to 15 in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

"We're excited for Tyler to have another opportunity to represent Canada," said Giants Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Bonner. "The experience that young players get with Hockey Canada is second to none, and we know Tyler will benefit hugely from playing at the Ivan Hlinka tournament."

Benson, an Edmonton native, was drafted first overall by the Giants in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The 17-year-old tallied 14 goals and 13 assists in 62 games in his rookie season with Vancouver in 2014/15. He has previously represented Canada at the World Under-17 Challenge and the Under-18 World Championships.
