LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks are gearing up for a four-game stretch at The Hangar beginning Thursday, August 6 packed with some of the most highly anticipated promotions of the season. The club welcomes their geographic rivals, the High Desert Mavericks (Texas Rangers), to Lancaster for a four-game weekend series. The weekend will include a visit from the Famous Chicken, Princess in the Park Fireworks, backpack and bobblehead giveaways, and the conclusion of this year's Local Heroes Week.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 6:30 P.M.: The Superstar Series presented by the University of Antelope Valley continues as the JetHawks welcome the Famous Chicken to The Hangar for the series opener with High Desert. Fans of all ages will enjoy a night of fun and laughs as one of the world's most famous mascots brings its show to Lancaster. It's also a Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark. Fans can enjoy $2 beers, hot dogs, peanuts and sodas.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 6:30 P.M.: Princesses of all ages are formally invited to The Hangar for a night of royalty, baseball and fireworks. The Frozen sisters and other favorite Disney princesses will be on hand to meet fans and take pictures. Following the game, enjoy a special Disney-themed fireworks extravaganza worthy of the Magic Kingdom.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 6 P.M.: The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a JetHawks backpack presented by Child Care Resource Center. Whether packing for school, camp, the gym or work, represent your favorite baseball team with one of the best giveaways of the summer.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 9, 5 P.M.: The JetHawks annual Aerospace Appreciation Night will feature a Jerry Ross Bobblehead giveaway presented by Lancaster Choice Energy. The bobblehead, given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance, features Ross siting on stop of a B-1 Bomber and includes the mission insignias of all of his seven space shuttle missions. Ross will be on hand to throw out the first pitch and there will be a special flyover prior to the game. The game is also another Military Appreciation Sunday. All active duty and retired military will receive 2-for-1 tickets with valid military identification.
LOCAL HEROES WEEK: Join the JetHawks in honoring the first responder agencies of the Antelope Valley. The annual event continues throughout the weekend and culminates with the Guns vs. Hoses Charity Softball Tournament on Sunday, August 9 at The Hangar. The softball tournament begins at 7 a.m. and features teams from five of the Antelope Valley's first responder agencies. There will be vehicle displays, mascots and special presentations throughout the week.
