Victoria HabourCats News Release

The Victoria HarbourCats and FLIGHT CENTRE, located at 635 Broughton Street in Victoria and managed by Edward Vanstone, are pleased to announce the first details of a SPRING TRAINING TRIP to Arizona, slated for March of 2016.

The trip will be hosted by Victoria native and former MLB pitcher Steve Sinclair (Mariners, Blue Jays, and HarbourCats staff. Behind-the-scenes access and opportunities not provided to the general public bring a bonus to this trip, and there will be opportunities for shopping, golfing, extra trips (possible NHL game), etc.

At our Flight Centre Fan Appreciation Night on Wednesday, August 5, also Flight Centre Night, more details will be announced and Flight Centre staff will be at the HarbourCats game to take down names of those interested in receiving further information. Spring Training schedules are not released until after the World Series, so expressions of interest will be taken at this time.

A minimum of 25 people will need to sign up to make this trip a reality, and 50 or more can choose to jump on this offer.

"This is meant to be 'experiential' and will have a lot of bonuses to make this the most memorable trip a baseball fan can make to Spring Training," said Jim Swanson, GM of the HarbourCats.

"It's about giving our fans another great way to enjoy the game, and to represent our team in a way beyond the great support they give us now. Our fans are our lifeblood and we want to do everything we can to give them excellent options."

ANDREYCHUK HONORED

HarbourCats second baseman Griffin Andreychuk (SeattleU) has been named co-winner of the West Coast League's player of the week award. Andreychuk split the award with Walla Walla pitcher Kyle Molnar, who threw a no-hitter at Kitsap. Molnar will go to UCLA in the fall.

Andreychuk went 12-for-22 with 3 home runs, 13 runs scored and 12 RBIs for the surging HarbourCats.

Molnar, a senior this past spring at Aliso Niguel High School in California, has made 4 appearances and 3 starts this summer for the Sweets, and is 1-0 with a 2.94 ERA over 18.1 innings pitched. He was selected in the 25th round of the 2015 MLB June draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Andreychuk, a rising junior at Seattle, is hitting .388 with 4 HR and 22 RBIs for Victoria (25-22). He helped lead the HarbourCats to a 5-1 week and positioned them for a run at the WCL wild card spot. Victoria and Yakima Valley (26-22) open a key three-game series tonight at Royal Athletic Park.

This past spring, Andreychuk put up impressive numbers for the Redhawks as a sophomore batting .306 with 11 doubles, 4 homers and 42 RBIs.
