Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin - Rain has been a nemesis for the Rafters all season, but the weather has been especially uncooperative when the Wisconsin Woodchucks are in town. All three days this season that the Woodchucks have made the short trip to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, it has rained.

That brings us to today, when Witter Field will host a triple-header between the Rafters and Woodchucks. Game one will start at 4:05 p.m. and will be the completion of a seven-inning game that was suspended by rain on May 27. When the game resumes, there will be two outs in the top of the fifth inning with the Woodchucks leading 5-1. Approximately 30 minutes following the completion of the suspended game, the Rafters and Woodchucks will play a seven-inning game that was postponed from July 6. Finally, 30 minutes following the second game, the teams will play the seven-inning game that was originally scheduled for Monday, August 3.

Over the weekend, the Rafters swept the Battle Creek Bombers, picking up wins number 27 and 28 on the year. The Rafters combined for 23 runs over the two games and finish the season 5-2 against the Bombers. Brock Carpenter (Seattle) picked up six RBI in the two-game set against Battle Creek, giving him 10 RBI over his last three games.

Making starts for Wisconsin Rapids in the final two games of the night will be John Jaeger (Pacific) and Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois). Jaeger is tied for the team lead with 15 appearances this season, including a pair of starts. The Pacific righty is 2-3 on the year with a 4.35 ERA and one save. Johansmeier leads the Rafters with six wins this season and have a 3.23 ERA in 11 games, including six starts.

The Rafters will be sporting unique jerseys for Marshfield Clinic Cancer Awareness Night, with the jerseys to be auctioned off to raise money for cancer research. The silent auction will begin at the start of the first game and go through the fourth inning of game three. All ticket packages that include food and drink benefits will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run through the fourth inning of the third game. It is also a "Mid-State Monday" with the first 100 students from Mid-State Technical College receiving a free ticket, hot dog, fountain soda, and Marshfield Clinic Northwoods League All-Star Game hat by presenting a photo ID at the Rafters ticket office. Gates open for the triple-header at 3:05 p.m.
