Houston Dash News Release

HOUSTON (Monday, August 3, 2015) - Houston Dash midfielder Carli Lloyd has been voted the NWSL Player of the Month by the media for month of July, it was announced today.

Lloyd scored in each of her first three games back with the Dash after winning the Women's World Cup with the United States, including two game-winners to help the Dash to a 2-0-1 record to close out the month and to push them into the fourth and final playoff spot heading into the final month of the regular season.

The Women's World Cup Golden Ball winner returned to the NWSL with a 25-yard free kick tucked inside the post just before halftime against FC Kansas City on July 20 en route to a 1-1 draw against the reigning champions. Lloyd followed up with a looping headed goal against her former team, the Western New York Flash, on July 25 to give the Dash a 1-0 win on the road.

Lloyd capped the month in spectacular fashion, unleashing a 30-yard screamer to the upper corner in the 86th minute for the game-winning goal against FC Kansas City at BBVA Compass Stadium on July 29 in a wild 3-2 result. Between the Women's World Cup and the NWSL, Lloyd scored in seven consecutive matches.

This is Lloyd's first NWSL Player of the Month award, and is the first Player of the Month award for the Dash. The 33-year-old won the league's Player of the Week award twice during her time with Western New York, once each in 2013 and 2014.

Lloyd returns to BBVA Compass Stadium this Friday against Sky Blue FC at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets for the match start at just $15 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com or by calling (713) 276-GOAL.
