Lancaster JetHawks News Release

ADELANTO, Calif. - After posting a four-run first inning, JetHawks bats fell silent as the High Desert Mavericks rallied from behind to hand Lancaster a 13-4 loss on Sunday night at Heritage Field.

Mott Hyde and Chase McDonald both homered for the JetHawks (53-53) in the first inning, accounting for all four of the team's runs in its ninth straight road loss.

The Mavericks (56-47) knocked JetHawks starter Akeem Bostick (2-4) from the game with two out in the second inning. With runners on first and second and one out, Chris Garia laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bostick threw wildly past first base, allowing the tying run to score from second. Joe Jackson gave High Desert a 6-4 lead with a two-run double, and Royce Bolinger followed with a RBI-single. After a strikeout and a walk, Bostick yielded to Albert Minnis, who gave up a two-run double to Kevin Torres and a Kellin Deglan RBI-single before escaping the inning. Minnis would go on to hold the Mavericks scoreless through the next two innings.

High Desert added two more runs in the sixth inning on a Bolinger sacrifice fly and Ronald Guzman RBI-double off Bryan Radziewski, and Deglan drew a bases-loaded walk from Tyler Brunnemann in the eighth to force home a run.

In the top of the first inning, Lancaster had jumped out to an early four-run lead against Richelson Pena (9-6). Hyde hit a one-out solo home run, and after base hits by Derek Fisher and Ronnie Mitchell, McDonald hit a three-run homer to straightaway center field.

The Mavericks, however, cut the JetHawks' lead to one run in the bottom half. Three consecutive singles plated High Desert's first run, and a Ronald Guzman two-run double cut the Mavericks' deficit to one run against Bostick.

Dallas Gallant and Felix Carvallo both provided two innings of scoreless relief for High Desert, combining for seven strikeouts.

The JetHawks return home to open a seven-game homestand on Monday, beginning with a three-game series against the Bakersfield Blaze. Christian Powell will make his Lancaster debut on the mound, while Bakersfield will send Dan Altavilla (4-9, 3.63) to the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The JetHawks will host Make-A-Difference Monday, presented by Time Warner Cable.
