The Volcanoes held off a late rally to defeat the Everett AquaSox 3-2 Sunday night at Volcanoes Stadium.

Salem-Keizer tallied multiple hits in only one inning of play but it proved to be enough as the Volcanoes took the series finale.

The Volcanoes broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the third. Junior Amion singled with one out in the inning, stole second and advanced to third when Everett catcher P.J. Jones misfired a throw on the infield. Ronnie Jebavy later laced a two-out single into center that scored Amion and put Salem-Keizer out in front. Steven Duggar then followed with a double into right, scoring Jebavy and extending the early advantage to 2-0. It was the first time since July 7 that Everett starter Anthony Misiewicz (2-1, 2.12 ERA) had allowed a run, a span of 21 2/3 innings.

Scott Price added to Salem-Keizer's lead in the fifth, belting a solo home run off of reliever Andrew Moore. It was the first homer of Price's professional career and only the second time Moore, a former Oregon State standout, had allowed a big fly this season.

Volcanoes starter Drew Leenhouts (6-2, 1.99 ERA) was outstanding through his six innings of work, holding the AquaSox scoreless while scattering just three hits. Everett pounced as soon as Leenhouts departed the game, however, scratching across a run in the seventh. Reliever Cory Taylor allowed both Luis Liberato and Jones to reach base before Conner Hale punched a single into right, scoring Liberato and cutting the deficit to 3-1.

The AquaSox continued to chip away in the eighth, pulling within one. Drew Jackson singled to lead off the inning, advanced to second on a groundout and stole third before Erick Mejia hustled out an infield single, scoring Jackson.

Everett made things interesting in the ninth, loading the bases off of reliever Ryan Halstead, but Caleb Smith came in and recorded the final out to secure the win for Salem-Keizer.

Player of the Game: Drew Leenhouts was in All-Star form just two days before the All-Star Game on Tuesday. The lefty tossed six innings, allowing just three hits and no runs on only 64 pitches.

Up Next: Pitcher Drew Leenhouts and infielders Chris Shaw, Jose Vizcaino Jr. and Miguel Gomez will all represent Salem-Keizer in Spokane for the Northwest League All-Star Game on August 4. The Volcanoes have three days off before beginning a three-game series at Eugene on August 6. The broadcast will be available on volcanoesbaseball.com or through the TuneIn Radio app. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. from PK Park.
