Smith Pitches Seven Shutout Innings in Win Sunday

Chris Smith pitched seven shutout innings in the El Paso Chihuahuas' 4-1 win over the Reno Aces Sunday night. Smith did not allow a hit until two outs in the sixth inning. It was the third time this year he lasted six innings or more and did not allow any runs.

The Chihuahuas took a 1-0 lead in the second on Jake Goebbert's sixth home run of the year. El Paso added a tally in the bottom of the fifth on Rocky Gale's sacrifice fly. Will Middlebrooks and Casey McElroy collected RBI hits in the bottom of the sixth to put El Paso ahead by four.

Reno scored once in the eighth before Jay Jackson came in to strike out Brandon Drury to end the inning and leave two runners on base.

Travis Jankowski went 3-for-4 and now has hits in his first 10 Triple-A games. Jankowski has multi-hit games in seven of those 10 contests.
