Bats Complete Sweep in Extras over Toledo

LOUISVILLE Ky.- The Louisville Bats (55-55) moved back to .500 on the season after completing their sweep of the Toledo Mud Hens (45-63) by the score of 4-3 in 14 innings on Sunday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Hernan Iribarren sent a line drive to left in the bottom of the 14th inning to score Juan Silva to end the game.

The Bats got on the board in the bottom of the first from Louisville native Adam Duvall. In his Reds' organization debut, Duvall hit a home run to center field. Duvall, 26, is also a former baseball player at the University of Louisville. He was acquired by the Cincinnati Reds from the San Francisco Giants early Friday morning.

Toledo's Daniel Fields answered back in the top of the second with a home run of his own over the right field wall to tie it up.

Louisville took the lead back in the bottom of the first after Ryan LaMarre hit a double to right field and then was brought in by a double to center by Kristopher Negron.

The Bats extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth. Chris Berset singled, was moved to second off of a sacrifice bunt by Iribarren, and scored off of a Irving Falu single.

Toledo picked up two runs to tie it in the ninth inning after a walk was issued and three singles allowed them to get back in the game.

In the bottom of the 14th, Silva led the inning off with a single and was moved to second by a sacrifice bunt from Negron. Silva then scored off of the single by Iribarren.

Robert Stephenson (4-0, 2.25) picked up a no decision for the Bats. Stephenson pitched six innings. He gave up three hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out five.

Sam LeCure (W, 5-4, 5.67) earned the win for the Bats. LeCure pitched four innings and gave up just one hit and no runs while striking out one.

Drew VerHagen (L, 1-3, 4.50) suffered the loss for Toledo.

The Bats will start a four-game series at Norfolk on Monday night starting at 7:05. Expected to pitch for the Bats will be lefty John Lamb (0-1, 5.40). On the mound for Norfolk will be right-hander Tyler Wilson (5-5, 3.05).
