JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Bragan Field at 6:05 p.m.

Infielder Elliot Soto and right-handed starting pitcher Ivan Pineyro have been acquired by the Marlins in a trade with the Chicago Cubs in exchange for pitcher Dan Haren, and the duo has been assigned to Jacksonville.

Soto, 25, has seen playing time in each of the past four seasons in the Southern League with the Tennessee Smokies. Soto has spent all of 2015 with Tennessee, hitting .275 with no homers and 18 RBI in 88 games played. In his career at the Double-A level, Soto is a .242 hitter with 2 homers and 51 RBI in 255 Southern League games played. Soto has also played at the Triple-A level for the Cubs, and was originally selected by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2010 draft out of Creighton University.

Pineyro has spent all of the 2015 season with Tennessee, going 7-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 19 starts. In his 107 and a third innings pitched, Pineyro has struck out 92 batters compared to 30 walks. Pineyro pitched at Bragan Field for Tennessee against Jacksonville on June 13, taking a no decision after he allowed a run on six hits during his four innings on the mound. Pineyro also pitched for the Smokies in 2014, going 0-4 with a 5.55 ERA in 11 starts. Pineyro was traded to Cubs from Nationals in 2013 for utilityman Scott Hairston on July 8, 2013. Pineyro was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Washington Nationals out of the Dominican Republic on July 2, 2010.

Additionally, left-handed relief pitcher Cody Ege has been acquired by the Marlins along with catcher Tomas Telis from the Texas Rangers in exchange for former Suns relief pitcher Sam Dyson. Telis will report to Triple-A New Orleans, while Ege (pronounced eee-Gee) joins the Jacksonville bullpen.

Ege this season was 3-2 with a 0.85 ERA with a save in 26 relief appearances with Double-A Frisco, and he began the season with High-A High Desert where he was 3-0 with a 1.35 ERA with a save in nine games in relief. Ege was originally selected by the Rangers in the 15th round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Louisville.

Also Suns infielder Terrence Dayleg has been placed on the disabled list with a left thumb sprain. Dayleg is hitting .215 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 2015.

The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns will open up a five-game series at home with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Sunday night with a first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. ET The Suns will send out left-hander Jarlin Garcia (0-1, 7.94 ERA) while the Wahoos will start right-hander Daniel Wright (7-8, 4.66 ERA).

To kick off the homestand Sunday all kids get free admission by showing their Library Card at the Suns box office and one lucky boy and one lucky girl will win a bicycle. All kids will get a Suns Lanyard as a back to school gift. After the game, all kids can run the bases, presented by VyStar Credit Union!
