LAST TIME OUT: Lynchburg jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but had to hold off a late Winston-Salem charge to win 10-9 on Saturday night... Lynchburg wasted no time jumping out to an early lead on the Dash by scoring 10 runs in the first four innings...In the first, YHOXIAN MEDINA scored on a RBI by CLINT FRAZIER and MIKE PAPI drove home LeVON WASHINGTON to give the Hillcats a 2-0 lead..In the top of the second, WASHINGTON and FRAZIER drove home CLAUDIO BAUTISTA and IVAN CASTILLO with back-to-back RBI singles that put the Hillcats up 4-0...NELLIE RODRIGUEZ lifted a sacrifice fly to left that scored MEDINA to complete a three-run frame and extended the lead to five runs...Facing a 3-1 count in the top of the third, WASHINGTON roped a three-run bomb, his first home run of the year, over the right field wall to give Lynchburg an 8-0 lead...Lynchburg added two more runs in the top of the fourth when SICNARF LOOPSTOK and DORSSYS PAULINO scored on a fielding error by KEON BARNUM that put the Hillcats up 10-0 through four frames...D.J. BROWN picked up his 10th win of the season as he pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out three...He left the game in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and the bases loaded as TREVOR FRANK took over...Winston-Salem scored two runs in the sixth and seventh innings and added five runs in the bottom of the eighth to bring the Dash within one, 10-9 and carried all of the momentum into the ninth...Winston-Salem's ADAM ENGEL singled with two outs and EDDY ALVAREZ followed with a double to put the tying run on third and the game-winning run at second before JUSTIN BRANTLEY forced JAKE PETER to fly out to left field to end the game and squash the comeback attempt.

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: Lynchburg is 7-8 against the Dash this season...Winston-Salem took three of the four games the Hillcats played at BB&T Ballpark in the last visit from July 17-July 19...Lynchburg and Winston-Salem will meet a total of 16 times in 2015...Lynchburg is 3-5 on the road at BB&T Ballpark this season, not including a loss in a continuation game that was finished on the road at BB&T Ballpark...1B NELLIE RODRIGUEZ is just 14-for-49 (.286) against the Dash this season, but has three doubles, a triple, four home runs, 11 RBIs, and 10 runs scored in 13 games...His slugging percentage is .633, and his OPS is 1.033 versus Winston-Salem this season...For Winston-Salem, All-Star catcher OMAR NARVAEZ is 19-for-42 (.452) but has just two extra base hit with only three RBIs in 12 contests.

CRACK OF THE BAT: Lynchburg racked up yet another double-digit hit night at the plate with 10 hits in a 10-9 win over Winston-Salem...The Hillcats have now recorded double-digit hits in five of their last 10 games and have a 4-1 record in those contests with the lone loss coming two nights ago in the series opener against Winston-Salem...On the season, Lynchburg has recorded 10 or more hits in 42 of 107 games and holds a 30-12 record when reaching the 10-hit mark...In the Carolina League, the Hillcats are tied for first with the Frederick Keys as each team has recorded 917 hits this season..The Salem Red Sox rank second with 895 hits of their own.

HEY DJ...SPIN THAT START!: Right-handed pitcher, D.J. BROWN set a new career-high with his 10th win of the season with a 5 2/3 innings performance in a win over the Winston-Salem Dash...BROWN has been nearly unstoppable on the mound over his last seven starts...During that span, BROWN is 6-0 and the Hillcats have won each game...The Hillcats as a team are 12-1 in the last 13 games that BROWN has started...In five starts in the month of July, BROWN went 4-0 with a 2.91 ERA and walked just four batters while striking out 22...BROWN is now 2-0 in five career starts against the Dash...BROWN'S previous career-high for wins was three which he accomplished in 2013 and 2014, but has shattered that mark this season.

BATTLE OF THE BEST: With a sweep of the Salem Red Sox, the Hillcats moved into sole possession of first place in the Northern Division of the Carolina League...With an 20-17 record in the second half, the Hillcats find themselves with a two game advantage over the Frederick Keys who have fallen to 18-19 in the second half after losing their six of their last seven games...Lynchburg has won 10 of its last 12, and ended Winston-Salem's six game win streak with a 10-9 victory last night...Lynchburg entered the series with Winston-Salem as the best teams in their respective divisions, setting the stage for a possible postseason preview...Winston-Salem sits atop the Southern Division with a 23-13 record and a 2.5 game advantage over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans...The Hillcats' 20-17 record and two-game lead in the division marks the second time in the second half that Lynchburg has sat atop the standings...The last time the Hillcats led the division was on July 1 following a 6-2 win on the road at Wilmington that gave the Hillcats a 4-2 record and the lead in the Northern Division...The Hillcats led the Northern Division for just three days to start the season when they had a 2-1 record following a series win against the Potomac Nationals, but did not see first place again until the second half...The two-game lead over Frederick is the largest lead in the standings for the Hillcats this season

DORSSYS HAS THE DRIVE: Outfielder DORSSYS PAULINO went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored and came just a home run shy of the cycle in the series opener against the Dash...PAULINO was called up from Lake County on July 15 to fill the spot vacated by BRADLEY ZIMMER who was called up to Double-A Akron and although he doesn't have the same power numbers, PAULINO has been a valuable asset to the lineup...PAULINO has recorded an RBI in 10 of his last 12 contests and has driven in 13 total RBIs in just 18 games with the Hillcats...To add to his impressive numbers at the plate, PAULINO has only committed one error in 138 2/3 innings as an outfielder for the Hillcats.

TRADE DEADLINE BRINGS NEW FACES: The Cleveland Indians made their fair share of moves as the July 31 trade deadline approached...The Indians made a pair of trades that brought two left-handed starting pitchers to the Hillcats...LUIS LUGO was the only southpaw on the entire pitching staff before the Indians traded for JAYSON AQUINO and ROB KAMINSKY...AQUINO was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations and is now with his third team in as many months...AQUINO started the season with the Toronto Blue Jays and was traded to Pittsburgh in May before again being delt on July 30 to the Indians...KAMINSKY was a first round draft pick in 2013 and was the No. 2 prospect in the St. Louis Cardinlas organization and was traded to the Indians for Tribe outfielder BRANDON MOSS...KAMINSKY is now the No. 3 prospect in the Indians System...This season, KAMINSKY posted a 6-5 record and a 2.09 ERA in 16 starts for the Palm Beach Cardinals in the Florida State League.

THIS DAY IN BASEBALL HISTORY: On August 2, 1921, With the jurors lifting the men onto their shoulders, the eight White Sox players accused of throwing the 1919 World Series are acquitted by the jury. The next day, Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis will say the overwhelming evidence clearly shows the Black Sox fixed the games with gamblers and all involved will be banned from playing professional baseball again.
