The first two games of the series between the RockHounds and Corpus Christi were dominated by pitching, with the clubs exchanging 4-0 shutouts. Saturday, the hitters said "enough," as the teams combined to bang out 15 runs on 26 hits. The 'Hounds broke a 5-5 tie (the third deadlock of the night) with a three-run seventh and held off the Hooks, 9-6, taking a five-game lead in the Texas League South second half race.

Renato Nuî=B1ez led a 15-hit RockHound attack, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, scoring three runs and driving in another and Matt Olson went 2-for-2 with three runs batted in. Two of Matt's ribbies came on his 13th home run of the season (see below), an impressive drive that cut through a strong wind and carried onto the grass berm beyond the right field bullpen in the fifth inning.

Teoscar Hernandez's two-run, two-out single in the top of the seventh, off reliever Omar Duran, forged the third tie of the game (5-5). The RockHounds then loaded the bases with one out in the home half of the inning and broke the tie on Chad Pinder's fielder's choice. Ryon Healy followed with a double to center to make the score 8-5 (Hooks catcher Roberto Pena was ejected after the play for arguing balls and strikes).

Rangel Ravelo doubled in Colin Walsh in the eighth to give the RockHounds a four-run edge, with Corpus Christi putting together a two-out rally in the ninth, scoring on three consecutive singles against Seth Frankoff. Colin Moran drove in the ninth-inning run, his 16th RBI against the RockHounds in the season series. The Hooks third baseman is hitting .396 (21-for-53), with two of his three home runs, against the 'Hounds.
