LOVES PARK - The Rockford Aviators downed the Normal CornBelters for the second night in a row Saturday, besting their Western Division rival by a final of 10-4. Michael Hur, Brian Bistagne, Devon Rodriguez and Danny Stienstra combined for 9 hits in the onslaught. The win was the 38th of the season for the Aves and their 17th at home.
Kyle Hassna took the hill for the home team. He held the Aviators to just two runs - both scored in the 5th on an RBI double by Santiago Chirino - to earn his eighth win of the year. The Aviators knocked out his counterpart Kevin Johnson by posting 6 runs and 10 hits over the first 4 innings.
Devon Rodriguez started the party in the first by driving in Michael Hur. He would add another in the eighth and now has 8 RBI over the last 3 games.
The Aviators posted 2 more runs in the second, added another in the 3rd, 2 more in the 4th and then scored their 7th run on the first professional homer by rookie Justin Fox in the 5th.
The Aviators have now scored at least 6 and posted at least 10 hits 7 times in the last 9 contests. Rockford finished with 14 hits vs. Normal. They have racked up 104 hits over the last 9 games.
The series concludes tomorrow with matinee baseball at Aviators Stadium. Nick Grim is expected to start for Rockford. First pitch will come at 3:05 pm.
