The New York Yankees have made the following moves affecting the roster of the Trenton Thunder prior to tonight's game in Bowie.
DELETE: RHP Joel De La Cruz - Transferred Trenton to SWB
DELETE: RHP Kyle Haynes - Transferred Trenton to SWB
ADD: RHP Alex Smith - Transferred Tampa to Trenton, wearing #21
ADD: LHP Evan Rutckyj - Transferred Tampa to Trenton, wearing #25
Haynes was scheduled to start tonight's game vs Bowie. RHP Jaron Long will start in his place this evening.
Smith returns to the Thunder for the first time since June 11. In 16 appearances with Tampa he went 1-0 with 11 saves in 20 innings. The right-hander who pitched collegiality at the University of New Haven allowed just ten total baserunners and struck out 23 with the T-Yanks.
Rutckyj, a native of Ontario, will make his Double-A debut when he steps onto the mound for the first time in a Thunder uniform.
