Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
The Cane Cutters continue to play outstanding baseball as the winning streak moves to 9 in a row. This night was a good one as the Cane Cutters won 6-1. The Cane Cutters are now 15-9 as the Marshalls are 4-20.
The team jumped all over the starting pitcher Dylan Porter. Porter pitched 5 innings, allowed 12 hits and 6 runs for the Marshalls.
The Cane Cutters scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The leadoff batter Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) would reach second on an error. Kutsulis was 2-5 with a run scored. Kutsulis would move to third and eventually come in to score off of a Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) single as Vincent was 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Vincent would later come in and score to make the game 2-0.
The Cane Cutters once again had excellent starting pitching from the starter Hunter Medine (University of New Orleans). Medine pitched well as he went 6 innings with 6 strikeouts and only 3 hits.
The Cane Cutters were able to score 2 more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Joe Ribbins (ULL) would have an RBI single which would be followed up by a Daniel Keating double that would score Robbins.
Leading 4-0 the team would pile on 2 insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead.
The Marshalls scored one themselves but were shut down by the trio of relieve pitchers in Cameron Cummings (South Alabama), Dane Lovejoy (Navarro College), and Russell Reynolds (LSU).
The team now travels to Victoria for a two game road trip. After that the team comes back for its last 4 game home series. August 6th will be Superhero night as the Cane Cutters will celebrate the first responders here in Lafayette. First responders and their families will get in free and there will be a $500 gift card giveaway. Come out to celebrate their hardwork and to watch great baseball.
