Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today unveiled a restructuring of the team's scouting staff by announcing the additions of Roy Stasiuk as Prairie Scouting Director, Dallas Thompson as British Columbia Scouting Director and the retirement of Ray Payne as Travelling Scout.

"The impressive resumes of Roy and Dallas speak for themselves," said Mike Moore, Hitmen General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations. "Both individuals have a long history in the Western Hockey League and significant experience in identifying talent. We expect them to be influential assets to our organization. We're also excited that Ray and his nearly 40 years of scouting expertise will remain with the organization as he steps down from his full-time role to a part-time scout in the Vancouver area."

Stasiuk, from Edmonton, AB., joins the Hitmen with over 25 years of scouting experience. During his most recent role, he spent six seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs as an amateur scout. Prior to that, Stasiuk worked 20 seasons in the WHL with Prince Albert, Red Deer, Edmonton, Kootenay and Lethbridge serving in various scouting roles in addition to General Manager of the Hurricanes and Assistant General Manager / Director of Player Personnel with the ICE. His longest stint was with Kootenay, where he helped the ICE win two league titles and the 2002 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

Thompson, from Kelowna, BC., brings over 15 years of scouting and WHL managerial experience to the Hitmen. He first joined the league as a player with the Tacoma Rockets from 1992-95 where he was team captain before moving to the Prince George Cougars in the late 1990's. There he made the transition into coaching and management serving as the Cougars General Manager for 10 seasons from 2004 to 2014.
