South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, signed forward Kyle Kraemer, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.
Kraemer, 30, picked up 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) in 37 games with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL last season after overcoming an injury to start the campaign. Over a five-year professional career with the Eagles and Ontario Reign in the ECHL, the St. Louis, Missouri, native totaled 245 points (110 goals, 135 assists) in 278 career games and was named to the All-ECHL Second Team following the 2012-13 season.
"I'm really excited," exclaimed Kraemer. "I've heard some great things about South Carolina and the coach there. We played there a couple years ago with Ontario for the weekend and I absolutely love the place. The city is gorgeous. I'm excited to start out East this year."
"I'm getting older and in the past few years, the team [Stingrays] has been very strong there," added Kraemer. "South Carolina has been a team that is up there every year. You want to go to a winning organization and it was a 'no brainer' when I spoke to Coach Carbery about coming there."
Prior to turning pro, Kraemer attended Northeastern University for four seasons grabbing 119 points (29 goals, 36 assists) in 119 games.
"Kyle is a huge free agent addition to our forward group for the upcoming season," Carbery mentioned. "He is a proven goal scorer in our league throughout his career. His passion to win and drive to continue to get better makes him a great fit with our organization."
