New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, announced today that they will partner with the ALS Association of New Hampshire to open the Granite State's 2015 Ice Bucket Challenge. On Saturday, August 1, following the game against the Reading Fightin Phils, the Fisher Cats will take part in a grand slam Ice Bucket Challenge from the mound to home plate, and then around the base path.
"It was so impressive to see how the Ice Bucket Challenge became such a huge hit and, more importantly, a tremendously successful fundraiser to fight ALS," said Rick Brenner, Fisher Cats president and GM. "We were proud to be a part of this last year with our entire team, and we look forward to kicking off New Hampshire's Ice Bucket challenges this weekend with our team and staff during Saturday's game."
The game will feature several elements to promote the Ice Bucket Challenge and to raise awareness for ALS. These include:
Fan Ice Bucket Challenge - Fans can take the challenge and challenge others on the concourse throughout the game.
Fans can learn more about the work done by the ALS Association
Fisher Cats Grand Slam Ice Bucket Challenge - After the game, Fisher Cats players, coaches, staff, and employees will circle the infield to complete a grand slam Ice Bucket Challenge from the mound to home plate, and then around the bases.
The ALS Association will honor Sullivan County Manager Jessie Levine at the stadium to help kick off the event. Jessie was diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS in February of this year. The Dartmouth College and University of New Hampshire graduate is a Class of 2011 Leadership NH graduate and was named a 2010 Union Leader "Forty under 40." She has served managerial roles in New London, Hanover, and Bedford, and currently serves on the board of directors of Southwestern Community Services, Inc., and Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission.
