Miguel Gomez shot a game-winning single into left field as the Volcanoes walked off to defeat the Everett AquaSox 5-4 Wednesday night at Volcanoes Stadium.

With Ronnie Jebavy at third and two outs in the 10th inning, Gomez laced a single off the left field wall to drive in Jebavy and send the Volcanoes faithful home happy. Caleb Smith (1-1, 2.13 ERA), who tossed two scoreless innings in relief for Salem-Keizer, picked up the win. Kyle Wilcox (1-1, 3.46 ERA) took the loss for Everett.

Volcanoes starter Mike Connolly entered the contest with back-to-back shutouts in his last two starts, tossing 16 2/3 scoreless innings over that span. That streak promptly ended only minutes into the game, as Everett tallied five hits and four runs in the opening frame.

Drew Jackson singled to lead off the first before Braden Bishop shot a single into center that center fielder Jebavy misplayed, allowing Jackson to come in and score. Connolly then secured two quick outs, nearly limiting the damage to only one run, but Yojhan Quevedo, Luis Liberato and Arturo Nieto all strung together two-out hits to drive in three more runs and put Everett out in front, 4-0.

Salem-Keizer scratched away at the deficit the very next half inning. Steven Duggar drew a walk to begin the frame and advanced to second on a wild pitch. C.J. Hinojosa then reached on an infield single before Jebavy lifted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Duggar.

Connolly settled down over the remainder of his outing, firing five scoreless frames following Everett's four-run first - retiring 14 of the last 16 batters he faced. The Volcanoes continued to chip away at Everett's lead as well, pulling within one in the fourth. Jebavy led off the frame with a double and later scored when Scott Price doubled off the left field wall. John Riley punched a two-out single into center that scored Price later in the inning, cutting the Everett lead to 4-3.

The Volcanoes completed the comeback in the seventh, knotting the game at four runs apiece. Riley led off the inning with a towering solo home run - the first of his Volcanoes career - to tie the game at 4-4.

The clubs exchanged scoreless frames until Gomez secured the victory in the 10th. It was Salem-Keizer's second walk off of the season.

Player of the Game: Miguel Gomez provided the late-inning heroics, but John Riley had the best night at the plate. The Volcanoes first baseman went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Up Next: The Volcanoes continue their series with the Everett AquaSox on Thursday night. Andrew Suarez (0-0, 2.84 ERA) will start for Salem-Keizer. Luiz Gohara (2-3, 4.20 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
