Blue Crabs Drop Game Two

July 29, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

(Waldorf, MD. July 29, 2015) -The Blue Crabs looked to take a victory on a muggy afternoon but ran into a roadblock in the form of Logan Williamson as they drop game two to York 7-0.

Williamson held the Crabs' offense to two hits on the day while walking two batters and hitting one. Edward Paredes and Beau Vaughan each tossed hitless innings to conclude the game.

Brian Baker was the starter for Southern Maryland and struggled through three innings, allowing seven runs to score. Wade Korpi, Sergio Perez pitch two innings each followed by Tim Sexton and Cody Eppley in the eighth and ninth. All contributed in scoreless relief, allowing four hits and walking two collectively.

The damage was done, however, as York pounced on the lead early with a Brandon Boggs RBI single and an error allowing another run to score in the first. Another error in the outfield allowed another run to score in the third. The biggest inning for York was the fourth, which saw four runs score with no outs, forcing the Blue Crabs to go to the bullpen to relive a struggling Baker in the summer heat.

Tyler Wagner and Grant Zawadzki tallied the Blue Crabs two lone hits. Casey Stevenson, Zach Wilson and Jovan Rosa reached on walks while Craig Maddox reached after being hit by a pitch.

Tomorrow is the final game of three between York and Southern Maryland, Matt Neil (RHP, 2-6, 4.64 ERA) will toss for York while Brian Grening (RHP, 3-6, 4.71 ERA) toes the stub for the Blue Crabs in Waldorf. First pitch will come at 7:05 at Regency Furniture Stadium.
