... Parker Frazier, that is. The right-hander, who opened the season in the independent ranks as a member of the Bridgeport Bluefish (Atlantic League), is emerging as one of the "good stories" of the season's second half.

The former Colorado Rockies farm hand (he spent a season-and-a-half with the Texas League Tulsa Drillers) made his fourth start with the RockHounds, earning his third win and dropping his ERA to 0.34, as the 'Hounds won for the second straight night at Frisco. Parker allowed one run (unearned) on five hits, walking three and striking out five.

His first strikeout (of Texas Rangers prospect Nomar Mazara) may have been the most significant, coming with two on and no outs in the first. The "K" was followed by solid defensive efforts from the 'Hounds' corner infielders (Renato Nuñez on a line drive to third and first baseman Rangel Ravelo on an over-the-shoulder catch on a flair up the right field line) to end the threat. Frazier allowed just three hits the rest of the way before turning the game over to the bullpen. Kris Hall pitched two scoreless innings (one hit, no walks and five strikeouts) and Tucker Healy closed the door in the ninth, clinching a series win in the quick three-gamer at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

A two-out RBI double from Nuñez got the RockHounds on the board in the first, and Renato scored on Chad Pinder's single on the next pitch. A walk to Ryon Healy in the second was followed by Nick Rickles' first Double-A home run, a towering drive to left field, giving the 'Hounds a 4-0 lead. Ravelo drove in the last two runs with a ground out in the fourth and a double in sixth. Chad Oberacker scored both runs (three for the game), both times after stealing a base. His first bit of thievery came on a double-steal in the fourth in tandem with Colin Walsh (see below).

The RockHounds

... are 21-11 in the second half and 56-46 overall (again, a new high-water mark for the season at 10 games over .500) ... have won four-in-a-row and 7-of-their-last-9 ... are 12-6 in the season series with the RoughRiders (7-1 at home and 5-5 at Dr Pepper Ballpark) ... are 32-18 at Security Bank Ballpark and 24-28 on the road ... are 37-29 vs. the South Division and 19-17 vs. the North.

- Texas League South: The RockHounds' lead over Frisco (17-14) is now at a three-and-a-half games entering Wednesday's series finale in the Metroplex. Corpus Christi's 3-2 (home) win over San Antonio keeps the Hooks (17-15) within four games with San Antonio (12-20) nine back.

Kibbles & Bits

- Reliever Ryan Dull has been promoted to (Triple-A) Nashville. A member of the RockHounds' 2014 Texas League championship club, Dull has been among the Texas League's top relievers all season, recording 12 saves (second in the league) with a 0.60 earned run average. He ranks among the TL's top five relievers in average (.182) and in strikeouts (10.40), walks (2.40) and base-runners (8.40) per nine innings.

- Reliever Brendan McCurry has been promoted to the RockHounds from Stockton of the (Advanced-A) California League. Oakland's 22nd round selection in the 2014 draft (Oklahoma State University), McCurry has put up outstanding numbers as a pro. In 17 games last season, he posted a 0.31 ERA in 17 games, almost all of that time with the Beloit Snappers of the (Single-A) Midwest League. He departs Stockton as the California League's leader in saves with 21 (in 22 chances) and a 1.94 ERA in 36 appearances (46.1 innings ... 30 hits ... 11 walks and 56 strikeouts). Prior to Oklahoma State, McCurry began his collegiate career as an infielder with Howard College (Big Spring, Texas).

- Colin Walsh (1-for-4, walk, two stolen bases) extended his hit streak to 16 games (26-for-61, .426) and has reached base in 17 straight.

- Chad Oberacker (2-for-3, three runs, two walks, two stolen bases) has a short, but very impressive, streak. The RockHounds center fielder, who has ranked among the league's top 10 hitters virtually all season (now at .303), has hit in four straight games, going 9-16 (.563), adding four walks for a .650 on-base percentage. "Obie" is also hitting .500 (12-for-24) in his last six games and .417 (15-for-36) in his last nine.

- Rangel Ravelo (2-for-5, double, two RBI) has hit in five straight games (10-for-22, .455) and has hits in nine of his last 10 games (16-for-40, .400) with one home run and 11 RBI. Ravelo has reached base in 15 of his 16 games as a member of the 'Hounds and is hitting .361 overall.
