Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
(Waldorf, MD. July 28th 2015) ---The York Revolution came into tonight's ballgame having won three straight, and they continued their winning streak with a victory of Southern Maryland by the 4-3 final this evening.
Southern Maryland scored three early runs in the bottom of the first. Zach Wilson drove in Fred Lewis with a sacrifice fly. Two batters later Jovan Rosa drove a homerun over the left-center wall to make it 3-0.
York got on the board in the top of the second. Bryan Pounds walked to the plate and hit a solo homerun over the wall in left to make it 3-1. Bryan would hit another solo shot in the top of the fourth to make it 3-2. Fast forward to the top of the sixth, Brandon Boggs walked to the plate, and wrapped a homerun around the pole in right field over the wall to tie the game at 3-3.
In the top of the ninth, after the revolution stranded the bases loaded in the eighth, Telvin Nash doubled with one out. The next hitter Jose Constanza walked, to bring Mikey Reynolds to the plate. Reynolds grounded one to third base where Stevenson fielded, and threw to second. Constanza took out Opitz with a great take out slide, and the Blue Crabs were only able to get the force out. Eric Patterson then came to the plate, and he dropped down a bunt in front of the plate, and legged it out allowing the go-ahead run to score to make it a 4-3 Revolution lead.
Southern Maryland in the bottom of the ninth put the lead-off man on base, but the pinch runner Grant Zawadzki was thrown out trying to steal second, thus ending the rally of the Blue Crabs, and securing the 4-3 victory for York.
Along with hitting two homers, Bryan Pounds also singled twice, and scored two runs. Neither pitcher factored in the decision. The revolution also out hit Southern Maryland by an 11-6 mark. Game two of the series will take place tomorrow morning, with the first pitch slated for 11:05 A.M. LHP Logan Williamson (4-7, 3.78) will toss for York, while RHP Brian Baker (5-6, 2.47) will throw for Southern Maryland.
