-SPIKES START HOMESTAND AGAINST LAKE MONSTERS: The State College Spikes swept Hudson Valley to finish a 3-3 road trip, and have put themselves back into the New York-Penn League playoff hunt. Tonight, the Spikes continue their 10th Season as they take on the Vermont Lake Monsters in the opener of a three-game series at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College is nearly at the halfway mark of the 2015 season, and stands just a game-and-a-half out of first place in the NYPL Wild Card race. The series against Vermont is the first half of a six-game homestand for the Spikes, who welcome Lowell (Red Sox affiliate) to town for the weekened. State College is 14-11 all-time against Vermont, with a 9-3 record against the Lake Monsters at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: Leobaldo Pina tied a State College Spikes record with three doubles as part of a four-hit, four-RBI game as he led the Spikes back from a 3-0 first-inning deficit to defeat the Hudson Valley Renegades, 5-3, on Sunday evening at Dutchess Stadium. Pina delivered the game-winning runs in the ninth inning with a wall-ball double to left-center field that drove in Thomas Spitz andMike Pritchard. The State College shortstop became the second Spikes player this season, and sixth player in the club's history, to produce three doubles in a game, following Cole Lankford's effort on July 18 at home against Batavia. Jacob Evans then took over and tossed three scoreless frames to earn his first professional win. Evans yielded three hits while striking out one batter.Pedro Echemendia retired the last three batters in order, the last via strikeout, in the ninth to earn the save.

-RODRIGUEZ HEADS TO HILL FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Jorge Rodriguez gets the ball for State College tonight. Rodriguez has tallied 11 straight scoreless innings throughout a win at West Virginia on July 16 and a no-decision at Aberdeen on Wednesday. The San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native has allowed opposing hitters just a .188 batting average, the second-best mark among New York-Penn League starting pitchers this season. Both of Rodriguez's losses this year have come at home, but in the righty's last home outing, he yielded just two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings against Connecticut on July 9.

-FRIEDRICHS MAKES START FOR LAKE MONSTERS: Right-hander Kyle Friedrichs makes his seventh start of the year for Vermont this evening. Friedrichs, the seventh-round draft choice of the Athletics in 2015, was a second-team All-Big West selection this past spring at Long Beach State after striking out 109 batters over 100 innings of work. The San Clemente, CA native has not made a start of longer than three innings as a professional, with a loss on July 17 at Tri-City his only decision. Friedrichs has allowed five of the seven total runs he has yielded in his third inning of work, posting a 9.82 ERA in that frame as a pro.

-GRAYSON DELIVERING BIG NUMBERS: Casey Grayson is still at or near the top of several leaderboards in the New York-Penn League. The University of Houston product leads the NYPL in batting average with a .339 mark, and his .434 on-base percentage is second in the league. Grayson also occupies spots in the NYPL's top five in hits (T-4th, 39), runs batted in (5th, 22) and walks (T-3rd, 20).

-PINA SURGING AT THE PLATE: Leobaldo Pina's four-hit game was his second of the season, following the quartet of knocks he produced against Tri-City on July 15, and increased his average from .279 to .299 over the weekend. Pina is now tied for second in the league with 40 hits.

-SPIKE MARKS: Mike Pritchard is tied for the NYPL lead in runs scored with 24...Juan Perez has now thrown 12 straight scoreless innings while striking out 17 batters over that time...Ian McKinneyhas logged 40 2/3 innings on the mound this year, the third-most in the league...Vermont leads the NYPL with 21 homers as a team
