Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lancaster, CA - Rancho Cucamonga couldn't rally from an early five-run deficit on Monday night, as they fell a run shy in Lancaster, halting their three-game winning streak with a 6-5 loss to the JetHawks at the Hangar.
Quakes' starter Brock Stewart (2-3) had a rough go of it, allowing six runs over just three innings, taking the loss. Lancaster 's J.D. Davis got the JetHawks on the board in the first with a two-run double, putting them on top for good at 2-0. After a solo homer for Sean McMullen made it 3-1 in the third, Davis struck again in the third, as he smashed a three-run homer to straight-away center field, his 14th of the year to make it a 6-1 game.
Trailing 6-1 in the fourth, Rancho began their rally, as Joey Curletta and Dillon Moyer each collected an RBI hit, making it 6-3. Tim Locastro capped the three-run frame off JetHawks' starter Akeem Bostick (2-3) with a sac fly, scoring Curletta to make it 6-4.
Delvis Morales, who knocked in Rancho's first run in the third with an RBI single, led off the seventh inning with a walk, then scored on Jacob Scavuzzo's RBI double, making it a one-run game at 6-5.
The Quakes would get no closer though, as JetHawks' reliever Tyler Brunneman earned his third save of the year by tossing the final two innings of scoreless relief. Cody Bellinger gave the Quakes some hope in the ninth, as he singled with one out and eventually stole second. Scavuzzo earned a two-out walk, but Tyle Ogle grounded into a force-out to end the game.
Scavuzzo finished the game with three more hits, giving him seven over his last two games.
The Quakes (14-15, 55-44) will send RHP Jeff Brigham (4-5) to the mound on Tuesday in the middle-game of the three-game set, while Lancaster (15-15, 52-48) sends LHP Brayn Radziewski (3-3) to the bump, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30pm.
The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Thursday, as they face the Lake Elsinore Storm in the opening game of a seven-game home stand. Thursday night will be another Thirsty Thursday, as fans can enjoy $2 24-oz Pepsi products, 16-ounce domestic drafts for $3 and 16-ounce premium drafts, wine, champagne and margaritas for just $4, thanks to Slater's 50/50.
