THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia dropped an 8-4 final on Sunday to the Hagerstown Suns. The Power took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth on a run-scoring double by Pablo Reyes. The Suns answers with a six run bottom of the fifth, reaching on five hits over nine batters. Raudy Read capped the inning with a two-run homer off Jose Regalado for a 6-1 Hagerstown lead. West Virginia got within two in the six on a two-run double by Jordan Luplow and a RBI single by Michael Suchy. The Suns added a second two-run home run by Jose Marmolejos in the bottom of the seventh to seal their win. Alex McRae took the loss while Luis Reyes earned the victory.

SECOND TO NONE: Jordan Luplow's sixth inning double on Sunday was his fifth of this road trip and 28th this season, matched only by Hagerstown's Osvaldo Abreu to lead the South Atlantic League. Luplow is 12 two-base hits away from matching Dan Gamache's franchise record of 40, set during the 2012 season. The third baseman is batting .308 this month with 11 doubles, three home runs and 16 runs batted in.

ONE DOWN: West Virginia and Hagerstown continue their final series of the season against each other this evening at Municipal Stadium. The season-set favors the Suns 8-7 with two games left to play and Hagerstown leads the all-time series 81-68. The Power have not beaten the Suns in any season series during the Pirates-affiliated era, having last won a season match-up 7-4 in 2008. West Virginia is 31-47 all-time at Municipal Stadium in regular season play.

OH NO: Alex McRae is now 0-4 against Hagerstown this season with a 10.43 earned run average. The right-hander is 4-3 against the rest of the South Atlantic League with a 3.65 earned run average. McRae will not face the Suns again this season.

EVEN AND ODD: The Power are now 24-24 away from Appalachian Power Park this season with 21 road games left this season. Due to a postponement at Lexington in April that was made up in Charleston, West Virginia can only play as many as 69 road games this season.

ONE FROM TWO: Yeudy Garcia is one victory away from joining Austin Coley with double-digits wins. Prior to this season, only Will Inman, Evan Anundsen and Rudy Owens reached ten-plus wins over the course of their respective seasons with West Virginia. Garcia is slated to start game two of the next Power homestand, set for Friday evening against Lakewood.

2+1+1: Elvis Escobar's eighth inning home run Saturday was his fourth of the season and set a new career-high for home runs in one year. The outfielder hit three in 2014, including two with West Virginia. The long ball Saturday was his second off Suns pitching this month, having gone yard in game two of a doubleheader on July 15 off Mario Sanchez.

PROMO UPDATE - JULY 30: West Virginia will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future with a theme night dedicated to the film and series. Fans can enjoy a postgame concert by Mighty McFly as part of the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance and the players will be wearing Back to the Future-themed jerseys to be auctioned off with all proceeds to benefit the research of Parkinson's Disease.

POWER POINTS: Austin Coley is one victory shy of matching the franchise record for wins in a single season. Evan Anundsen won 12 times during the 2008 campaign... Nick Neumann is now three saves away from passing Nathan Kilcrease's franchise mark of 15 during the 2012 season... Former Power pitcher Rudy Owens was signed to a Minor League contract last week by Colorado... West Virginia is a combined 4-7 in games started by Colten Brewer and Alex McRae in the second half.
