The Legends scored three quick runs in the first inning on doubles by Corey Toups and Chad Johnson and a home run by Wander Franco, but the Crawdads answered with four runs in the second. Griffin threw to first, but first baseman Michael Hill's throw to second hit Arroyo, who was safe at second on the error as Garcia scored, tying the game at 3-3. Juremi Profar's single scored Arroyo with the go-ahead run.

Garcia's two-run double in the third gave Hickory a 6-3 lead, and after the Legends scored a run in the fourth, the Crawdads pulled away with a run in the fifth, Trevino's two-run homer in the sixth, and two runs aided by two Lexington errors in the seventh.
